SPRING BRAKE CONTROL VALVES

Spring Brake Control Valves use the tractor’s supply line flow to release the spring brakes. These valves are designed to enable spring brake priority and prevent brake compounding (i.e., when the spring brake and service brake are activated at the same time).

Brake compounding can cause over-torquing, but the spring brake control valve protects your equipment by preventing brake compounding.

When spring brake priority is activated, it releases the spring brakes by providing supply air. This action opens the pressure protection valve which fills the reservoir with about 80 PSI.

The valve follows all regulations listed in FMVSS 121, Docket 90-3, updated on October 8, 1992.

The spring brake valve is compatible with two 1400 in(cubic inch) reservoirs.
